About this Project
Urban GIS provided American Water Tennessee with survey-grade locations for all water meters in their service area (~90,000). Each meter was inventoried for key attribution and delivered to American Water in their preferred GIS Model format. Urban GIS utilized several Esri solutions including Field Maps, AGOL Dashboards, ArcGIS Pro, and others.
During the data collection process, we did quality control of the provided customer service address database by identifying duplicates, misspellings, missing features, and incorrect house number displays. We also noted any features that were inaccessible due to locked gates, broken tops of the water meter boxes, and their general location. We processed, analyzed, and displayed all data using Esri’s ArcPro and Arc GIS Online software.
Our work gave American Water Tennessee a better understanding of their current infrastructure conditions, offering insights that can be used to analyze, prioritize, and better understand the needs for future capital improvements.
