Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI)
Diversity
Urban GIS understands that differences exist among individuals; our charateristics and experiences make us unique. We acknowledge the ways people differ: race, sex, gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, socioeconomic status, religious believes, among others.
Equity
Urban GIS understands that we live in a society that isn’t always proportionate; the trajectory and context of individuals may vary. We seek to treat everyone the same and create fair access, opportunity, and advancement for all.
Inclusion
Urban GIS understands that our actions matter. It is important to us that people feel a sense of belonging and find a space to participate, regardless of their differences. We welcome support, and value all individuals and groups.
DEI Initiatives
Urban GIS is proud to be the founder of the E.D.G.E. initiative (Ethnically Diverse Geospatial Engagement). The purpose of E.D.G.E. is to build a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion focused network within the geospatial community that increases the exposure, opportunities and advancement of individuals, companies and organizations of ethnically diverse backgrounds.
