Enterprise Geospatial Development Services
- Client: Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT)
- Prime Consultant: GeoDecisions
About this Project
Urban GIS provided technical and development services to improve the structure, representation, and access of GDOT’s transportation data. This work included web services, data and system integration, training, technical support, and testing. The first requirement of this multi-year contract was the preparation of a strategic plan to identify and document geospatial business goals and objectives, as well as additional requirements and needs throughout the agency. The needs identified were captured in an integrated project plan for actions and applications. It focuses on linear referencing systems and transportation data models, roadway inventory management systems, data visualization and analysis systems, and Highway Performance Management Systems (HPMS).
Our team supported the integration of GDOT’s geospatial data resources through the development and enhancement of data warehouses and management systems, geospatial web portals, and tools such as video log viewers, straight-line diagrams, asset management systems, and HPMS processing systems.
With this newly updated and integrated spatial data framework, Georgia’s Department of Transportation can now better manage its road networks and associated assets. This allows the department to make more accurate and cost-effective decisions so that it can maximize its budget.
