About this Project
The MWRD conducted a biological survey to determine how District operations were impacting wildlife. Urban GIS was responsible for preparing the GIS database which was used by the project team for importing field data. Additionally, Urban GIS prepared the habitat maps for each of the sites evaluated in previous studies.
The MWRD now has a customized database that gives staff the ability to track hundreds of species of animals and plants throughout the district.
This new technology allows the District to gauge how effective their programs have been in protecting the environment with a much greater level of accuracy. Urban GIS services also supported the detailed watershed planning at the District and assist in day to day enforcement of regulations and ordinances.
